And now I learn I wasted all of that time and money for nothing except to possibly have to spend even more money because I missed the one rabbit hole that would lead me to the fact that they stopped making it free for new Java users in October. However, the thing is I only wanted Java because I thought I could then download bedrock like every site was telling me, and I had no reason to think this info is outdated or wrong because Minecraft's download site is setup so you can only see the Java version as a huge button, and the rest are mini links down at the bottom.
